Fantastic roads, not too much traffic, a good climate and amazing scenery – truly a motorcycle heaven.
As bikers ourselves we understand the needs of motorcyclists. John and Ros have experience of motorcycle touring in France, Belgium, Luxemburg, Germany, Switzerland, Spain and Italy as well as Highway 1 in California. John is an advanced motorcyclist who will sometimes allow himself to be persuaded to accompany guests on rideouts!
You will find our rooms have the all important space to store all your gear safely and securely. We have our own motocycle trailer for local emergencies and a small workshop with motorcycle lift and toolkit for those minor problems. We still advise all motorcyclists to take out breakdown/recovery insurance.
We are located in an area surrounded by some of the best biking roads in Austria. The Malta Hochalmstrasse is right on our doorstep, the Nockalmstrasse starts just 25kms away. For an exhilarating day out try a round trip along the Grossglockner Hochalmstrasse or our very popular “3 Countries Tour” – breakfast in Austria, lunch in Slovenia, afternoon tea (or ice cream) in Italy and back here for evening meal!
With lots to see and do in the area both on and off the bike Malta makes the ideal base for exploring and relaxing.
For those of you who don’t want to ride to Austria, German Railways operate a Motorail service from Northern Germany to Villach. Ride about 250 miles from Calais, get on the train and then its around 40 mins from Villach to Malta.
Another option is to take advantage of the budget airline prices and hire a bike on arrival. See the two possible options for this on our ‘Partners‘ page.

We would like to thank you all for the great time we had at Gastof Hochalmspitze. It was a high light of our 11 country tour of Europe and we felt at home straight from the off. The hospitality and food are top notch. Also routes you offer are great, taking in different adventures, but we need to return to try more as we only scratched the surface.
