Introduction to Gasthof Hochalmspitze

Our friendly, family-run hotel sits on a quiet street in the heart of the charming little village of Malta. The hotel is decorated in traditional Austrian style and is warm and welcoming.

As is common in this part of the world, the bedrooms are in a separate building directly opposite the reception and restaurant area, ensuring a good night’s sleep for those who prefer to retire early.

Eating & Drinking

Meals are served in our attractive restaurant, which also houses the bar, or on our sunny outside terrace. We also have a smaller, separate dining room, perfect for small functions or meetings and private dinner parties.

Our breakfast buffet includes a wide selection of fresh local foodstuffs, cereals, juices, meats and cheese, bread and rolls (straight from the baker's van), fruit and yoghurt, plus unlimited tea or coffee.

The evening menu offers both great Austrian specialities and classic English favourites, all using the freshest local produce. And look out for our occasional 'themed' evenings, where Ivor delights the palette with specially prepared options from all around the world.

Vegetarians are well catered for and we are happy to respond to requests from guests with other dietary needs.

Our Bedrooms

Rooms are reached by only a short staircase, so although not yet able to cater of wheelchair using guests, the hotel is able to accommodate those with lesser mobility problems.

Our 4 family bedrooms, 2 single bedrooms and 19 double bedrooms are all en-suite and spacious and are over two floors. Many look out over our quiet garden, lovely valley and towards the mountain which gives the hotel its name.
