Walking

Not everybody wants to hike up and down mountain paths and along the high ridges. If you are the sort of person for whom 'walking' conjures up images of a gentle stroll in the sunshine, then fear not, there is plenty of opportunity to do just that.

From the front door of the hotel, choose any one of a number of routes that will take from half an hour to 3-4 hours on flat paths and gentle inclines, along the river or across the fields, allowing you to enjoy the beautiful views and the wonderful air at your own pace.

We have a printed sheet detailing these walks and available in English and German – just ask at reception.

Going a little further afield will let you experience some of the many other lovely walkways that exist in Carinthia. Using this interactive map see for yourself the range of distance and difficulty that exists.

Many of the lakes and rivers have paths around and along their shores, and our own lovely little river, the Malta, has a specially created walking and cycling path along most of its length, so that walking from Malta to Gmünd is a really pleasurable experience.

Similarly the River Drau, a rather bigger waterway, is followed by a path that can be walked in part or, for the very keen, in its entirety.

For families there are lots of especially made paths that will allow you to use a buggy or that are suitable for small children, including a walk through fairy-tale land in nearby Trebesing.

Whatever your level of fitness, there will be a walk for you in or around our lovely village.
